Early On Program

Early-On is a family-centered program that serves children with special needs, age birth to 18 months.  Each child and their parent(s) or caregiver will work with experienced pediatric professionals in a small group setting in the fields of occupational, speech, and physical therapy; and cognitive development.  A licensed nurse is also a member of the team to provide ongoing medical advice and support.

During this time parents learn teaching and therapy techniques that they can use daily while caring for and playing with their children. These techniques help parents recognize and promote the small steps that lead to the traditional “developmental milestones.” Since parents are with their children all or most of the day, opportunities for “play with a purpose” abound. The more involved parents become in the process, the more confident they feel about their children’s progress.

One of the most important benefits of participating in the Early On program is getting to know the other parents in the program. Supporting one another and sharing information with other parents that are experiencing the same joys and challenges is very important and helpful.  You will find in Early On you are not alone and that there are others to help you on the journey of raising your child.

Once a month there are additional parent support meetings.  During these meetings your child will be cared for by staff and volunteers. These meeting provide a chance to listen to speakers talk on helpful subjects and learn from one another.
