14th Annual Special Kids and Families Bunny Run 5K was a Race to Remember!

Saturday, April 3rd was an incredible day for Special Kids and Families!  Thanks to an incredible outpouring of generosity and support, the 14th Annual Bunny Run 5K was a tremendous success! Sedgwick CMS and BrightStar of Memphis were the Presenting Sponsors and their generous contributions helped to ensure the success of the Bunny Run.  There was also incredible support from Fleet Feet Sports, Oak Court Mall, Dillard’s Oak Court and many other corporate sponsors.  Brad Carson of Classic Hits 94.1 and Jim Jaggers of WREG News Channel 3 were on hand to emcee the event and entertain the crowd.

There were hundreds of families at the race to enjoy treats from the Easter Bunny and activities for the kids.  The Kid’s Korner was a crowd favorite among the kids with the Easter Egg Hunt and face painting as highlights of the day!  The children, and adults alike, loved visiting with the Easter Bunny and petting the live bunnies, chicks, & ducks at the Petting Zoo.  The pancake breakfast, provided by Hog Wild Catering, was a crowd pleaser again this year and proved to be a great finish to the race day.

There were nearly 700 participants in the 5K race with over 20 teams participating and approximately 200 participants in the Family Fun Run/Walk.  Cannon Smalley was the Men’s overall 1st place winner with a time of 17 minutes and 30 seconds.  Caroline Blatti was the women’s overall 1st place winner with a time of 18 minutes and 53 seconds.  The winner of the Largest Team trophy was Team Highpoint with 70+ members….thanks to Team Captain Andy Savage!  TeamHopping for Sabrina Hopping for Sabrina raised over $1,100 and won the trophy for Highest Amount of Donations by a team….thanks to Team Captain Kristin Barek!  Team spirit and race participation were at an all time high this year so congratulations to all!   Click Here to view Official Women's Results.  Click here to View Official Men's Results.

It takes a great deal of time and hard work to create an event like the Bunny Run, THANKS to the incredible staff and volunteers; this was a hugely successful event!  Thanks to all of the families, corporations and individuals who supported Special Kids & Families and helped to raise money to support early intervention programs.  All proceeds from the Bunny Run 5K assist Special Kids & Families in continuing its mission of empowering children with special needs and their families to maximize their potential.

A Special Thanks to the Memphis Runners Track Club for Your great Finish Line Administration!  To view MRTC Bunny Run 5K Photo Album, Click Here.
